I developed this Primary Source Worksheet to accompany the primary source readings for history courses. I used an earlier form of this worksheet for History 121: Global History to 1750 during Fall 2014 and assigned this worksheet for History 102: American History Since 1865 in Spring 2015. I scaffolded student understanding by first modeling how to complete the worksheet. During class, I gave examples for each section of the worksheet and elicited student input. Students then completed the worksheet as homework along with the next week’s reading assignments.
